Lidl have brought back their popular Wagyu beef burgers

Last August, budget supermarket Lidl released Wagyu beef burgers for a fraction of the usual price.

With shoppers spending upwards of £500 for a kilo at the butchers, Lidl’s beef steak burgers are only £3.49, so that’s quite the saving.

Wagyu beef is considered to be a luxury in the beef world, with the cows being feed special diets to ensure they get a level of fat marbling, which gives it the rich and delicious flavour.

As a result the meat is very tender, with the fat cooking down and keeping things moist and juicy.

Joshua Smith, Head of Meat Buying at Lidl UK, spoke about their decision to launch the product last year: ‘We decided to launch our Deluxe Wagyu Beef Steak Burgers on National Burger Day to give customers a delicious reason to celebrate.

‘We’re passionate about giving our customers the ingredients to create their own high-end foodie experiences from the comfort of their own homes.’

The burgers are available from today until stocks last, so you might want to get there soon to avoid disappointment!

If you prefer a bigger chunk of meat, Lidl also brought back their massive tomahawk steak, which has been aged for 14 days then matured to 21 days.

Better yet, the supermarket claims the tomahawk has ‘a fuller flavour with exceptional tenderness and succulence.’ Sounds good to us!
