Budget store Lidl have launched a brand new ‘hangover-free’ prosecco.
It’s great news for all the prosecco fans out there’s – and there’s a lot of you – with Brits having consumed a whopping 12.8million litres of the bubbly stuff already this year.
The store’s Organic Prosecco Spumante is a limited edition, on sale from October 12th, and at just £7.99 it’s expected to fly off the shelves in the blink of Rudolph’s eye.
As is the drill for Christmas time, one of the greatest joys (and struggles) is enjoying a tipple almost daily, meaning you’re in for a dry mouth, pounding headache and tired eyes – all the markers of a classic hangover.
But, tuck into this tipple and you’re in for less of a hangover, apparently.
‘We’ve all had that shocking wine hangover. This is sometimes attributed to the sulphite preservatives used in wine to keep them fresher for longer,’ Lidl’s master of wine, Richard Bampfield, told Metro.
‘Generally, organic wine producers use a lower level of sulphites in the production process, which means they are less likely to contribute to hangovers.
‘So if you don’t react well to sulphites you could be saying good riddance to hangovers with Lidl’s Organic Prosecco Spumante.’
In addition, The Independent reports that the cellars used for producing their organic prosecco are cleaned purely with recycled water, and the vineyards are managed without the use of chemical fertiliser, herbicide, pesticides and insecticides, whereas with regular wine production, sulphite preservatives are added to keep it fresher longer.
Organic wine producers, however, use a lower level of sulphites in the production process, which means they are less likely to contribute to hangovers.
Best pick up a bottle or two to give it a test… just to be sure, hey?
