Marks & Spencer bring back sell-out salted caramel hot cross buns

The most exciting thing about annual occasions has to be the creative foodie launches that go with them.

And now that all of the weird and wonderful foods of the festive period are over and done with (think Brussels sprouts tea and Christmas tree flavour crisps) and we’re well and truly into the New Year, it’s obviously time to get weird and wonderful with foodie creations for Easter.

And we have one for you that is definitely more wonderful than weird.

High-street food store Marks & Spencer has restocked their shelves with all of their bestselling Easter treats and they’ve brought back one of our favourites – their sell-out Salted Caramel & Chocolate Hot Cross Buns.

As much as we all love hot cross buns (anything carby and smothered in melted butter wins our vote), a lot of people aren’t keen on the raisins that are usually used in this Easter snack.

So the high-end supermarket eschews the usual raisins for a trio of sugary bites that we would take over the shrivelled grapes any day.

Instead of the classic dried fruit, the leading supermarket uses dark Belgian chocolate chips, toffee pieces and salted caramel fudge in this sweet treat. The dream.

You can get the indulgent buns in Marks & Spencer foodhalls and food departments across the country and they come in at only £1.70 or a packet of four.

And if you head down before this Saturday (3rd February), you can even get them discounted to a bargain £1.

You better be quick if you want them because last yearthey sold out!

Or if you’re not a fan of salted caramel but still not keen on a raisin-filled afternoon snack, feast your eyes on Waitrose’s Easter offering.

Their Mini Chocolate Orange Hot Cross Buns also come without the typical dried fruit addition and instead use dark chocolate chips and orange zest to create a sweet snack that would rival a Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

You can get them online and in stores across the country for £1.69 for a packet of four. And the moment if you buy two you get the second half price. Bargain!
