Weight Watchers launch new Smart Kitchen meal box delivery to help make healthy eating easier

Weight Watchers Smart Kitchen is a new meal delivery service by the diet giants...

Weight Watchers have introduced a brand new meal box service to help members save time and stick to the diet plan, called WW Smart Kitchen.

In a similar way to other companies like Hello Fresh and Mindful Chef, Weight Watchers will now deliver boxes of portioned ingredients straight to customers' doors each week, along with recipe cards to follow.

The recipes in the boxes are developed in partnership by Weight Watchers and specialist chefs to ensure each meal coordinates with the weight-management programme's SmartPoints system.

The SmartPoints system is based on a calculation of a meal's variants of calories, saturated fats, sugars and proteins, and Weight Watchers say no foods are off limits on their plan. When members join, they are given a SmartPoints budget to spend however they like. It's made up of a daily and weekly allowance, based on age, gender, height and weight.

The boxes, however, aren't just for followers of the programme. Weight Watchers are keen to encourage families and friends to get together to cook healthier meals are hoping the boxes will do just that.

The company are hoping to inspire all kinds of people in the kitchen with Steph Williams, Weight Watchers Recipe Development Nutritionist, saying: 'Meal planning is taken care of and the recipes are quick and easy to create, making it the perfect solution for novices and budding chefs alike.'

Having partnered with Bearfaced Groceries, Weight Watchers have put emphasis on their ingredients coming from award-winning local butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers to keep the standards high for each delivery.

Boxes will start at £35 for three meals, for two people, and go up to £75 a week for five family meals for four people. The larger boxes work out at around £3.75 per meal, per person.

Recipes will change from week to week but the classic box will include some tasty sounding dishes like ricotta stuffed chicken with balsamic veg, minced beef bhuna, aubergine & halloumi parcels, open spicy bean burger and baked cod with pesto crust.

Dietary requirements will also be catered for too, with a vegetarian option available, which will include meals working out from £3.65 per recipe.

It would seem that trial runs of the service are going down well with consumers already. Weight Watchers member Zoe Furnivall commented: 'I love my Smart Kitchen subscription! The courier messages on the day of delivery to let me know when the box will be arriving and even if you're not at home, it can be left in a safe and dry place ready for your return.

'Everything is portion controlled, has a SmartPoints value and is absolutely delicious.'

Weight Watchers Quorn sausage pasta bake

Using Quorn instead of pork or beef sausages slims this pasta dish right down, but doesn't sacrifice any of the flavour. We love that it's all baked in one dish together to maximise flavour (and save on washing up!).
