Bake Off star Terry Hartill writes an emotional letter to his fans

Great British Bake Off’s Terry Hartill has shared a tear-jerking letter with his fans, thanking them for their support following the loss of his wife.

The 54-year-old baker, was one of the most popular contestants on GBBO 2018 because of his sweet and friendly personality.

He was eliminated from the show in week five, which was spice week. While Terry had performed throughout the previous episodes, he came second to the last in the episode’s technical challenge and wasn’t able to complete his showstopper in time, which lead to him being voted off by judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

But, even though he only made it to halfway through the series, so won’t nab the Bake Off prize, viewers haven’t forgotten him! He still remains a fan-favourite, especially following his emotional admission that the show had given him a focus while he struggled to deal with the death of his wife.

And now Terry has gone on to thank fans for their continued love and support.

As Terry is not on social media at all, British Bake Off shared the heartfelt handwritten letter on their Twitter page on his behalf.

‘I would like to express a massive thank you to everybody who has supported me and my family over the last few months,’ he wrote.

‘We are so overwhelmed by the huge response we have received and I am particularly grateful for all your kind words online and on social media.

‘It has been a difficult time since the loss of my wife,’ he continued, ‘and when my daughter applied for the show on my behalf we never could have expected the wonderful reaction that we have experienced and continue to receive.

‘In the tent it was tough and difficult at time (a melting Eiffel Tower for example.) I thank you all for seeing the vision!

‘But it has been so very enjoyable and I have made some wonderful lifelong friends.

‘I am very excited for the future and again would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their love and encouragement.’
