Mary Berry is back on our screens with a brand new series, Mary Berry Cooks – are you as excited as we are? From cakes to family meals, Mary is here to show you all – it’s time to get comfy on your sofa and dive into a whole heap of the Berry.Now we’re not sure if they’ll be as many innuendos to keep you entertained as The Great British Bake Off but there’s going to be plenty of quality baking, speedy cooking and lots of recipes to make in the comfort of your own kitchen.
What’s on the menu for this series?
Fancy hosting a traditional tea party? Well, Mary Berry is here to show you how. We’re talking bite-sized scones and classic tea party-style sandwiches. Not forgetting orange butterfly cakes which Mary makes with the help of her granddaughters. Mary also visits a plantation in Cornwall to find out all about how to grow tea – we’re very intrigued!
This episode teaches us all about the wonders of a dinner party, from starters to dessert. She’ll be preparing two varieties of canapes (how fancy!), whipping up a salmon and asparagus starter, guinea fowl main and last but certainly not least, a chocolate tart for pudding – spoons at the ready! Mary will also be giving us a few tips and tricks when it comes to cooking a steak to perfection. We can’t wait!
Episode three is about the classic that is a Sunday roast. Mary cooks a slow-roasted shoulder of lamb with rosemary and paprika rub with a potato and fennel gratin as a side, as well as a delicious plum tarte tatin with fruit salad for dessert.
Mary Berry touches on how easy it can be to cater for a large amount of
people in one go with a buffet-style supper. Recipes include a delicious
beef and mushroom stew, mouth-watering salmon en croute and a sweet orange panna cotta.
The baking queen shares her advice on how to make a supper for sharing. This feast includes a Mediterranean platter of hummus, breadsticks and a tomato and mozzarella salad. Mary also rustles up lamb dhansak, cottage pie with dauphinoise potatoes and last but certainly not least, an elderflower cordial and apple crumble mmm…
Mary Berry demonstrates recipes for an outdoor summer lunch including salmon fillets (yum!) ham with homemade chutney and beef with garlic and mustard cream. Mary also prepares two mouth-watering salads, a fiery red rice and a broad bean classic. And of course, pudding is on the menu – a summer pudding to be precise.
