225g (8oz) tenderstem broccoli, cut into short lengths 10ml (2tsp) sunflower oil 1 small onion, peeled and thinly sliced 3 thin sirloin steaks, trimmed and thinly sliced 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed 2.5ml (1/2tsp) sugar 30ml (2tbsp) sesame seeds 30ml (2tbsp) light soy sauce Boiled rice, to serve
1. Steam the broccoli in a steamer set over a pan of simmering water for 3-4 mins until just tender. Refresh under cold water and set aside.
2. Heat the oil in a large wok or frying pan and stir-fry the sliced onion for 2-3 mins. Add the steak, garlic and sugar and stir-fry over a high heat for 2-3 mins until the steak is well browned.
3. Add the sesame seeds and broccoli to the pan and stir-fry for 1-2 mins. Add the soy sauce and stir-fry for another few seconds to coat the meat and broccoli. Serve immediately in bowls with boiled rice.
