Banana apple sauce mush is a tasty puree that’s fab for young children – all you need is an apple and a banana to make a sauce that’s great for weaning young children. You can add more water to this recipe if your baby is younger to make the consistency a bit thinner, or you can keep it thicker for an older toddler. You can either use a potato masher on this recipe, or you can use a blender for this recipe, depending on how thick or thin you’d like the puree to be.
- 1 apple
- 1 ripe banana
Peel, core and cut 1 apple into slices/chunks
Place slices or chunks into a pan with just enough water to slightly cover apples
Boil until tender; be sure to check on the water level.
Apples may be mashed with a potato masher to achieve a smooth applesauce consistency or you can puree in an appliance.
Peel a ripe banana and mash in a bowl with a fork (heating in the microwave for approximately 20 seconds will soften the banana up if needed)
Add applesauce to the banana and sprinkle with wheatgerm or crushed cheerios
Puree if necessary but mashing with a potato masher will typically get this mix smooth
