Homemade smoothies make an excellent healthy breakfast or afternoon pick-me-up. Whip up this simple recipe, packed with wheat germ a great source of calcium, B vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium, iron, and zinc, and find yourself feeling nutritionally invigorated with every gulp. The orange will also help boost your vitamin C levels too – plus it simply tastes brilliant.
Ingredients
- 1 stick lemongrass
- 1 orange
- 2tsp wheat germ
- 225ml whole-milk yogurt
- 1-2tsp clear honey

Method
- Trim the ends of the lemongrass and remove the tough outer layers. Thinly slice the remainder and place in a blender.
- Grate the zest from the orange and squeeze the juice. Add to the blender and blend until the lemongrass is finely chopped.
- Add the wheat germ, yogurt and honey and blend until smooth.

For a more tangy smoothie, replace the orange with a lime.
