If you’ve got monster loving kids to feed, why not make something extra special and whip up these Ninja Turtle style pancakes and watch their little faces light up? Pancake art is all the rage and it’s not as hard as it looks – really all you need is a little food colouring and a few squeezy bottles to be able to shape your pancake batter into the style that you want. The finished result will be so special it’s sure to be a breakfast that the kids will remember. To make this monstrous pancake all you need is a classic pancake batter and a whole lot of green food colouring. It’s really simple to shape the monsters into their recognisable form using squeezy sauce bottles, and then popping on some edible icing eyes. The kids will just love them!

Ingredients

  • 1 quantity of our classic
  • batter
  • 50ml milk
  • Red, orange and green gel food colouring

Method

  • Start by making up a batch of scotch pancake batter – we’ve added 50ml milk to make it easier to shape in the pan.

  • Divide the batter into three and add either the green, orange or red food gel colouring to each batch before putting them into separate squeezy sauce bottles.

  • Heat a frying pan on a medium heat and start by making the turtle’s mask with the red batter.

  • Follow by making a circle around the mask for the monster’s face and then follow by drawing its body, arms and legs.

  • Flip the pancake over to make sure both sides are cooked. Repeat this with different coloured masks.

  • Place the monsters onto a plate and add their eyes over their masks and they’re ready to serve.
