My other half and I sat down the other day to plan our Christmas web of visits and entertaining.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the festive season and am SO lucky to have a big family I genuinely enjoy spending time with, but bloody Nora, it’s a bit of a mission!
Over Christmas we’re trying to squeeze in seeing (drum roll please) eight (count ’em) brothers, who come with four wives and seven children, four parents, three step-parents, three grandparents, two step-grandparents, two cousins, five aunts and uncles and a (favourite) great aunt. Phew.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they all got on with each other and we could have one massive party, but things are never that simple, are they?
Is it just me who finds the family juggling at this time of year exhausting? Disappearing off somewhere nice and sunny – just the two of us – is getting more appealing by the minute. Maybe next year…
