This weekend is the one every year that most people look forward to. To reverse daylight saving, we turn the clocks back an hour and most of us get to spend an extra 60 minutes in bed.
However, I fear the Mansfield household won’t be quite as overjoyed on Sunday morning, because our 2-year-old doesn’t yet understand the concept of staying in bed for an extra hour.
She’s been waking up between 5.30 and 6am every morning (!) for the past few weeks anyway. On Sunday, when everyone else discovers that they can turn over and go back to sleep when they normally wake up, we are almost inevitably going to be woken up at around 4.30am.
And anyone who has tried to tell a 2-year-old to go back to bed knows that once they’re up, they’re up.
So when you finally get out of bed on Sunday, spare a thought for us – we’ll probably be already getting ready for afternoon tea!
