With all these petrol strikes going on, I suppose we’re all going to be encouraged to get a bicycle. That’ll be handy for dong a week’s shop at Tesco.
But seriously, I don’t know what it’s like where you live but London is full of cyclists. As a result I have lost count of the times I have nearly been knocked down while crossing the road because someone on a bike has jumped a red light. And I’ve almost been flattened on the pavement too. And, get this, got a mouthful of abuse from the cyclist!
I’ve often thought it would only be a matter of time before someone was seriously hurt this way and now it’s happened.
Five year-old Millie Harrop from Cheltenham was knocked down outside her own front door by a woman cycling on the pavement, who then just sped off. Can you believe that? Despite life threatening head injuries, Millie is expected to make a full recovery, which is great news.
They’ve got the cyclist, I’m delighted to say. I hope they throw the book at her. Adults shouldn’t be cycling on the pavement full stop. What do you think?
