My housemate’s having a hard time of it at the moment. After being completely in love with an old work colleague for years, he finally plucked up the courage to ask her out this week (with some encouragement from me), only to be told that she just sees him as a friend.
He’s such a nice bloke, good looking, funny and yet he never has much luck with the ladies. I can tell he’s really down about it but whenever I try and broach the subject, he just says things like ‘I’ll be OK, I always am.’
If it was me, I would have cried about it to everyone that’d listen by now, but somehow it seems harder for men. I don’t know, maybe he doesn’t want to talk about it – but if he did, who would he talk to? His friends he goes to the football with? His drinking buddies?
Sometimes I feel lucky that us girls are so good at talking – I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t vent to my best friend about anything and everything.
I expect he’s right, he will be fine, but you can’t help but worry, can you?
