Entertainer David Gest found dead in a hotel room in London

American entertainer David Gest has been found dead in a hotel room in London aged 62-years-old.

The Celebrity Big Brother star was staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf when he was found by police.

The cause of death is so far ‘unexplained’.

The Metropolitan Police released an official statement saying; ‘Police were called at 10.17 on Tuesday 12 April to the Four Seasons hotel in Westferry Circus, to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s. London Ambulance Service were called to the scene. Life was pronounced extinct at the hotel.’

‘A post mortem will be held in due course and next of kin are in the process of being informed.’

David was legally married to Liza Minnelli between 2002 and 2007 despite the couple actually only remaining together for 16 months.

The star was scheduled to be touring later on this year in a show titled ‘David Gest is Not Dead But Alive Soul tour’ and would have been performing alongside soul legends such as Dina Carroll, Russell Thompkins Junior and Freda Payne for 24 dates across the UK.

Back in January 2016 David entered the Celebrity Big Brother house, but had to leave 13 days later on medical grounds. No further details were disclosed.

He was most recently photographed last week alongside former housemates and on-off couple Stephanie Davis and Jeremy McConnell on Jeremy’s Instagram page.

David also appeared in the ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2006 and came fourth in the series.

During his childhood, David was close family friends with the Jackson family in California and counted Michael Jackson as one of his closest friends.
