Coronation Street actress Melanie Hill has tied the knot with film producer Jim Daly in a relaxed North London ceremony.
The soap star, who plays kebab shop owner Cathy Matthews in the ITV show, married long-term partner Jim in a casual leopard-print coat and white Doc Martens with scarlet hearts on the top, whilst the groom chose a navy blue suit for the occasion, which was held at the Victoria Stakes pub in Muswell Hill.
The wedding was a far cry from Melanie’s nuptials with fellow actor Sean Bean, whom she wed in 1990 wearing a traditional white lace dress. The couple were married for seven years, and together for 14 in total. They also have two daughters together; Lorna, now 26, and Molly, 25.
In 2005, she told The Mirror of their relationship: ‘Me and Sean are mates now. It’s not always easy, but it’s come with time and been helped by our love for the kids. They have always been our priority and it was important to have a good relationship for them.’
‘He’s doing really well and I’m pleased about that.’
After their divorce in 1997, Melanie is told reporters that she wasn’t expecting to get married again, but has since changed her mind for Jim, whom she met when working on the film When Saturday Comes in 1996, and started dating several years later.
In the same interview, she described her romance with Jimmy, saying: ‘He wasn’t a stranger and the kids knew him, which meant a lot to me. And he’s very funny – a right laugh. It’s that northern sense of humour.’
‘We’ve been a couple for about six years now. We like the same things, going for walks and exploring.’
She added: ‘I did think about having more children when we first got together, but it’s too late now.’
