In a candid new interview, Hollywood A-list actor Hugh Jackman has opened up about his long-lasting marriage and the secret behind his happy and healthy relationship with his wife Deborah that spans over two decades.
Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness have now been married for 21 years, after meeting on a film set in 1995.
Talking to PEOPLE magazine, the Australian actor explained the secret behind their long and happy marriage, and have they have managed to stay strong over the years. Despite navigating ‘ups and downs’ that have broken many a Hollywood couple facing life in the spotlight, Hugh and Deborah have remained united with the 49-year-old actor explaining that their priority is always ‘family’, no matter what.
‘One of the great pieces of fortune in my career, it started late, but that Deb and I were already set together, a team, madly in love, like literally before it all happened,’ he said. “We can kind of see all the ups and downs for what they are. Our priority is our family, and we’re there for each other no matter what.’
Hugh Jackman and Deborah have two children together, Oscar, who is now 17 and their daughter Ava who is 12. The award-winning actor describes his wife as his ‘rock’, who keeps him grounded even at glitzy Hollywood events such as the Oscars.
‘Even at the Oscars, I walk out, I put my hand on my heart and I always look to Deb in the audience,’ Hugh explained.
The actor also described how he always puts his wife first, ‘Straight afterwards, I will not see anybody in my dressing room until Deb’s been in.’
‘Because that is my foundation, that is the rock, that is the foundation of our family, and therefore my life.’
