Jesse Metcalfe announces engagement to girlfriend Cara Santana
Lovely news for the Desperate Housewives star!
Actor Jesse Metcalfe has announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend Cara Santana.
Jesse, who is best known for his roles in TV series Desperate Housewives and blockbuster movie John Tucker Must Die, shared the happy news exclusively with US Weekly, telling the mag, 'It's been a long time coming, but we couldn't be happier.'
The 37-year-old popped the question in New York, whilst the couple were celebrating Cara's 31st birthday.
The proposal took place aboard a 50-foot sailboat on the Hudson River - he came prepared with an impressive 5.5 carat emerald shaped diamond ring, and even arranged for Eric Clapton's 'Pretty Girl' to be played in the background during the big moment.

The couple first met around 10 years ago, but Jesse told YouTango in 2013 that 'it wasn't love at first sight'.
'It was more of a slow burn, which I think is a better start for a relationship. I think if it comes on fast and furious, it generally fizzles out just as fast. We were slow and steady,' he explained.

'We took the time to get to know each other,' fashion blogger Cara agreed.
Jesse and Cara have been together for an impressive 10 years
Back in 2014, rumours began circulating that the pair were preparing to tie the knot, but Jesse spoke out to correct the gossip.
'You know what, I'm not engaged. That's some misinformation. I swear to God man, that's some misinformation that has been floating around out there,' he said at the time.
'That's not to say we won't get engaged and won't get married, it seems to be going in that direction, but not yet.'
He added of Cara, ''She is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. She has opened my life up in so many ways.'
'Being with her has helped me shed that image I had in the past - that player image. She's really helped me grow.'
