Kate and William's world tour

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to travel the world next year

With their honeymoon details still under wraps, everyone's keeping a close eye on Kate and William's travel plans and it seems they've got a whopper of a trip lined up for 2012.

Plans are afoot for the newlyweds to travel the world next spring, to help take the pressure off the Queen's heavy Diamond Jubilee schedule.

Plans are reported to have already been made for the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to visit Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean, according to The Sun.

The couple may also visit other Commonwealth countries in Africa and Asia.

Buckingham Palace is keen to build on Kate and William's popularity and the success of the Royal Wedding, which was watched by two billion people around the world.

Although the Palace has insisted the Queen, who turned 85 in April, has no plans to scale back commitments, apparently she has told other members of the Royal family including William and Kate that they'll be needed for Diamond Jubilee commitments next year.

'Demand for William and Catherine is expected to go through the roof following the incredible reaction to their wedding.'

'They are keen to settle into married life and only plan the minimum of official engagements. But the Jubilee is different. Next year is major for the Royal Family and William and Catherine are keen to play their part in it,' says a Buckingham Palace source.

Visiting Commonwealth countries where the Queen remains head of state is a traditional role for members of the Royal family. As William won't be travelling to New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup in September because he'll be working in the Falklands, the country will be a priority for the couple on their tour next year.

William and Kate's first royal tour abroad will be in Canada in July. Before this the couple will take their honeymoon in a secret location abroad and in September William will spend 10 weeks away from Kate when he serves in the Falklands.
