Christina Hendricks announces split from husband of 12 years Geoffrey Arend

Christina Hendricks has announced that she and her husband are splitting.

The Mad Men actress took to her social media to announce the sad news that she and actor husband Geoffrey Arend are splitting.

Sharing a statement to her Instagram page with her 423,000 followers, the Good Girls star wrote, ‘Twelve years ago we fell in love and became partners. We joined our two amazing families, had countless laughs, made wonderful friends and were blessed with incredible opportunities.

‘Today we take our next step together, but on separate paths. We will always be grateful for the love we’ve shared and will always work together to raise our two beautiful dogs.

‘We will be taking time to rediscover ourselves in this transition and we thank you for your patience and support in giving us the space to do so.’

The actress, who played Joan Holloway in award-winning Mad Men throughout its seven season run, married Madam Secretary and Body of Proof star Geoffrey back in 2009.

The pair were reportedly introduced by Christina’s Mad Men co-star Vincent Kartheiser, who played Pete Campbell in the TV show.

Speaking to Red back in 2015, the actress discussed her husband’s role in her career, saying, “He’s been amazing, he’s like my biggest supporter. He’s very protective.”

“One thing I’ve realised with my husband is if something’s not going right, you need to stop and really look through their eyes, because there’s a reason you fell in love and they’re not trying to be mean.

“You need to stop and see what they’re seeing because it’s important to them and you respect them,” she continued. “Really listen. And learn to say “yes” more than “no”; sometimes they just want to hear “yes”, and that’s fine.”

“I march to the beat of my own drum,” she added, “and think everyone should do the same. I would never expect anyone to conform to my beat or anybody else’s. In this I have always been consistent.”
