Coronation Street star Julia Goulding marries partner Ben Silver

Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Ramsey in the soap, has revealed that she’s married her partner Ben Silver.

The pair had not confirmed their engagement after reports last month, but now they have confirmed that they tied the knot in a ceremony attended by friends and family at Manchester’s Albert Hall.

Speaking to OK! Magazine about their special day, the pair revealed they decided to break tradition and walk down the aisle hand in hand.

Julia, 33, said: ‘It was important for us to walk down the aisle together and my parents aren’t traditional.

‘My dad didn’t mind not giving me away as he believes I’m my own person. I can totally understand why people do it, but the way we did it felt right for Ben and I.’

The pair are thought to have become engaged early last year, but never officially announced the news to fans.

Opening up about the proposal, Julia said they went for a walk so that she could tell Ben, 30, she’d book a surprise birthday trip to New York, and that’s when he popped the question.

She said: ‘We went for a walk in the snow and I surprised Ben by telling him I’d booked a trip to New York for his birthday. He then said he had a surprise for me too and asked me to marry him – I wasn’t expecting it at all!’

The two have been together for three years, and seems like wedding bells were already ringing when they started dating.

She said: ‘I told Ben I’d marry him a week after our first date!’

Speaking about the intense start to their romance, Ben added: ‘It was ridiculous, as it was 100 miles an hour.

‘We kind of did nothing but everything at the same time. At the end of the week I remember telling Julia that I loved her.’

Congratulations to the happy couple!
