The X Factor star Lucy Spraggan posted an announcement on her Instagram account telling friends and fans the sad news that she and her wife Georgina Gordon have split.
Their break up has happened three years into their marriage, and six years after they got together, with Lucy Spraggan writing, ‘It’s with sadness to let you know that after nearly 6 years of joy, fun and true love Georgina and I have decided to part ways’
She added, ‘We have shared the most amazing times and life together, and we are truly grateful for knowing love at its full capacity.
‘We will continue on our paths as ultimate friends, and dog Mums, united by the bond and memories we will always have.
‘We are eternally thankful for the support you have offered to us; in this time of hardship we appreciate space and time to deal with the change.’
Lucy has turned the comments off on her announcement, and hasn’t released any further explanation about why she and Georgina have decided to break up. But her post has received over 14,000 likes from supportive fans.
During the relationship, the couple had fostered twelve children between them, and were having fertility treatment in order to start a family of their own.
After revealing they had fostered children, Lucy told The Sun, “We’re having fertility treatment ourselves, so it’s all good practice.”
Lucy Spraggan and Georgina Gordon married in 2016, a year after Lucy proposed. Speaking to OK! Magazine about the proposal at the time, Lucy had said, “[Georgina] didn’t have a clue and she turned around and I was on one knee – it was amazing, I think I knew that she’d say yes but it was still scary.
“I got a boat – she didn’t know we were going on a boat, we went underneath Albert Bridge and her friends and family, her mum was on the bridge with all of her mates.”
Georgina hasn’t publicly commented on the news, but she posted a selfie to her Instagram profile five days ago where she revealed she was feeling exhausted and described being ‘tested’.
She wrote, ‘Whhoooaaaaah. What a week so far! I am exhausted, my body clock keeps waking me up at 4.30am for no apparent reason, my brain is like soup, my mind and thoughts are like a rollercoaster that I can’t keep up with. BUT … HEY…. I’m am showing up and still smiling 😁 it’s good to be tested sometimes to realise how strong you are. And… there’s always yoga 🧘♀🙌🏼 Is anyone else feeling overwhelmed this week?? I think there might be something in the air 🤷🏼♀’
We wish Lucy and Georgina all the best during this difficult time.
