Tennis player Rafael Nadal marries long-term girlfriend Mery Perelló

Rafael Nadal is married!

The Spanish professional tennis player, who is currently ranked number two in the world for men’s singles tennis, tied the knot over the weekend with long-term girlfriend Mery Perelló.

Rafael, known more commonly as Rafa, married Mery in a gorgeous ceremony on Saturday, which took place on the Spanish island of Majorca, with the tennis player sharing a teasing snap of the destination on his Instagram page.

Bride Mery, whose real name is Maria Francisca Perelló and often goes by Xisca, wore two beautiful dresses for the big day, both designed by Spanish designer Rosa Clará.

The proud designer took to her own Instagram page to share two adorable snaps of the lovely couple on their special day, showing fans the beautiful gown that Mery wore to walk down the aisle.

‘We barely have words to describe such a charming and fascinating couple,’ she wrote. ‘Congratulations for your beautiful love, for your exquisite wedding day and for your endless happiness, we wish you all the best, now, and forever.

‘Once more, thank you for trusting in us and for giving us the opportunity to take part in such an important and special day, it has been a pleasure and a once in a lifetime experience to work with you and to get to know. Mery, you looked incredibly elegant and delightful, a unique bride!’

Designer Rosa also shared black and white that showed sketches of the two wedding dresses, revealing that Mery’s second dress was a fitted high neck halter dress with an open back and jewel embellishment.

‘An overwhelming wedding day for all of us!’ added the designer. ‘We feel incredibly proud for taking part in such an important day - Mery Perelló and Rafa Nadal’s wedding.

‘We would like to congratulate the gorgeous and unique couple, we wish you the best forever!’

Rafa popped the question to his girlfriend of 15 years last year summer while the childhood sweethearts were on a romantic trip to Rome.

Speaking to HOLA!, the Spanish sister magazine to the UK’s HELLO!, the sportsman revealed the news back in January, revealing that the pair had impressively kept the news under wraps since May so that they could revel in the first few months of their engagement outside of the public eye

He also opened up on starting a family with his now-wife, saying, “Obviously, I have the intention of forming a family.

“I love children and I would like my children to do what they like.”
