Prince William and Kate Middleton have announced a date and venue for their 2011 royal wedding.
The couple will tie the knot on Friday 29th April at Westminster Abbey, the BBC has announced.
William met Kate at St Andrews University in 2002 and they have been dating for 8 years. They got engaged while on holiday in Kenya in October. Wills proposed with his mother Diana’s engagement ring.
Westminster Abbey was the wedding venue of the Queen and Queen Mother, as well as where Princess Diana’s funeral took place.
Prime Minister David Cameron said it would be ‘a happy and momentous occasion’ and would be marked by a public holiday.
The extra holiday will fall in the same week as Easter Monday, giving much of the UK a 3-day working week.
