Hollyoaks actress Sophie Austin reveals split from husband Graeme Rooney

The pair were married nine months

Hollyoaks actress Sophie Austin has announced she is leaving the show after splitting from husband Graeme Rooney.

The 31 year old, who plays serial killer Lindsey Roscoe, née Butterfield, will be leaving the Channel 4 soap after filming ends on her final scenes in a couple of weeks.

Sophie's character has been involved in a series of violent murders in the Chester suburb since 2015 and she told Digital Spy; 'When the producers told me that Lindsey was behind the murders I was thrilled to rise to the challenge - even though I knew it meant that she wouldn't be staying in the village forever.'

The Essex-born actress has revealed that her final scenes see her working alongside actress Jennifer Metcalfe; 'The scenes I've been shooting are some of the most intense I've ever filmed.

'All I will say is I've been filming a lot with Jen Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes, and she has unfinished business with Silas.'

However Sophie insists on keeping fans in the dark about Lindsey's final fate; 'Whether it's the end of the road for Lindsay, you'll have to wait and see.'

Not only is it a big change in Sophie's working life, but it comes at a time of personal upheaval, telling The Daily Star; 'It's also a huge time of change for me personally as, very sadly, my husband and I separated a little while ago.'

The pair married in July 2015 at Holy Trinity Church in Sophie's hometown of Takeley in Essex, but after only nine months of marriage the pair have announced their split.

Sophie took to her Twitter page to share a cryptic tweet about her future with her fans.
