Rumours of Stephen and Charlotte going their separate ways began to circulate last week, after she shared a series of social media posts suggesting that their relationship had ended.

'Guttered that me and Stephen had to separate but I tried my hardest and it obvs wasn't good enough 😿' she wrote in a now-deleted tweet on August 16th.

However, a source has since told The Sun that Charlotte didn't think that the split was official until she saw Bear's post.

'Charlotte literally had no idea Stephen thought their relationship was in a bad way,' the insider said.

'She logged onto Twitter and saw his message, she's in pieces and can't believe her fairytale ending has been shattered.'

The news comes at a reportedly difficult time for Charlotte, after her ex-boyfriend and former Geordie Shore co-star Gaz Beadle announced that he was expecting a child with now-partner Emma McVey.

During a recent interview, the 27-year-old broke down in tears as she thanked her fans for their ongoing support, saying: 'Honestly I get so overwhelmed by all the support, it's just so amazing. I've been sent so many nice messages over the past couple of days.'

On her Instagram account, fans have continued to flood her with messages of compassion, with one writing: 'Sending you love and strength 💗'.

'Stay strong!!' another exclaimed. 'I don't fully know what has happened between you and Steven, but I just hope that you can solve all your problems in your relationship. In my opinion just do what is right for both of you!'
