Courteney Cox has opened up on having multiple miscarriages.
The actress opened up about the subject on new Facebook Watch docu-series 9 Months with Courteney Cox.
Throughout the series the actress is giving viewers an insight on the pregnancy stories of 10 different women across the US as they go through the nine-month journey.
However, during the show the former Friends star also spoke about the pregnancy and fertility challenges she’s has experienced throughout her life.
‘I had a bunch of miscarriages,’ Courteney divulged on camera. ‘But I was lucky enough to have my little girl, Coco, who I had through IVF.’
Courteney went on to say that despite the emotional and physical pain of IVF that she feels ‘extremely thankful’ and ‘blessed to have Coco’.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the 54-year-old explained why she has been so candid about her past struggles with fertility.
‘No one ever taught me that lesson,’ she said. ‘I didn’t know you were supposed to be private. I just don’t think like that.’
The mum-of-one, who gave birth to 14-year-old daughter Coco when she was 40 after using IVF, said that by opening up about her struggles she hopes to help other women who are going through the same problems.
‘If I can share any light or give any wisdom to somebody or hope, I would share anything I can,’ she said. ‘In the end, I think that’s important.’
She went on to say that her Facebook Watch series is effective and emotional because it’s a ‘really raw real program’.
‘There is not an episode that I don’t cry,’ she admitted. ‘It’s a story about 10 different couples that are taking us through the journey of their pregnancy and you deal with everything from cancer to alcoholism, I mean you name it.
‘Whether you can keep the baby, whether you should keep the baby, whether you wanted to get pregnant… you [get] this intimate look that’s not sensationalized.’
‘I think the stories are important to tell just because you want to know that you’re not alone and it gives people hope,’ she added. ‘So it kind of brings people together.’
