Kate Beckinsale hospitalised after suffering from ruptured ovarian cyst

Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale told fans she'd been hospitalised following the health scare.

Kate Beckinsale has been admitted to hospital after suffering from a ruptured ovarian cyst.

The Serendipity actress posted to Instagram on Saturday to inform her fans of the distressing news, sharing a picture of herself on a hospital bed with a breathing tube in her nose.

Kate captioned the post: ‘Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry. So thankful to everyone who looked after me.’ She then added the hashtag, ‘#wobbly.’

The 45 year old actress included two photos in the post, with the second picture showing her lying in her hospital bed with her head turned away from the camera.

Beckinsale did not share anymore information as to her condition, however, when her hairstylist asked her when the incident occurred, she replied: ‘Today!! Thank you darling love you.’

As many as 27,000 people have commented on Kate’s post to send their own personal well wishes, including fellow famous friends.

Sarah Silverman, who is close with Beckinsale and previously dated her ex-partner, Michael Sheen, demonstrated her shock at the news by commenting, ‘OMG!!!!’

Isla Fisher also shared her concern: ‘Are you okay? Sending you so much love.’

Beckinsale corrected a fan who taunted her for posting the ‘selfie’  by responding: ‘It’s actually not a selfie. My mum took it.’

The actress then went on to clarify the reason behind  sharing the photo, writing: ‘I would not have posted it if we had not noticed someone in a car taking a photo of me leaving the hospital in a wheelchair.

‘I have Instagram largely to have my own honest narrative’, Kate continued before adding: ‘I’d prefer to say what happened than endure speculation and so I chose to share.

‘I agree, it’s not a normal impulse, But it’s not normal to be photographed in vulnerable situations by people you don’t know either.

‘Thank you so much to everyone who has wished me well and lots of love to the girls here who have been through similar or worse’

She concluded her statement by writing: ‘Love to all x.’
