Katie Piper has revealed that she was rushed to hospital after suffering a bad infection.
The TV presenter, who underwent an operation earlier this year, took to Instagram on Monday to reveal to her 866k followers that she was rushed to hospital over the weekend and admitted that it was because she had ignored symptoms of an infection as she was too busy.
Alongside a photo of her sitting in her hospital bed, the book author wrote: ‘Ignored some symptoms because of being too busy and now I am in hospital with a bad infection!
‘Moral of the story, always listen to your body,’ she continued. ‘I am being looked after by some fantastic NHS nurses and doctors as always.’
Hundreds of fans and friends commented to wish Katie well, including dozens of high-profile faces.
‘Sending so much love your way! Xxx,’ wrote Giovanna Fletcher, followed by Rochelle Humes and Stacey Solomon who both wished the charity campaigner better.
Katie also received messages from her fellow Strictly Come Dancing contestants, including Joe Sugg, Stacey Dooley, Lee Ryan, Dr Ranj Singh and her dancing partner Gorka Marquez.
The mum-of-two went on to update worried fans yesterday via her Instagram stories.
‘I’m still on hospital – it’s day three,’ she said.
‘I’m feeling pretty rough. My markers are still quite high, so I don’t think I’m going home anytime soon.’
She also expressed how much she was missing her family, saying: ‘This morning I had to try and do that thing where my eldest is going on a school trip and get her organised over FaceTime and WhatsApp.
‘It’s a bit of a nightmare, wish I had actually been there to sort her out. But she is so excited about going on a coach by herself. It’s really good to see her so happy about being independent.’
‘I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that’s left comments on my main grid,’ continued the mum-of-two, ‘it’s really nice of you all to send get well soon messages.
‘Like I always say the NHS are great. It’s so fantastic we’re just so lucky.
‘I’m in the best place to get better and hoping to be out by the end of the week hopefully.’
